Kristi has worked in the mental health field since 1992. She currently works exclusively in private practice with a wide variety of clients. She provides therapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Kristi specializes in areas of chronic medical conditions, anxiety, depression, complicated grief and loss, trauma, parenting, divorce, and life adjustment issues. Due to Kristi’s own childhood diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, she has a one-of-a-kind approach in working with individuals and families who are adjusting to life with diabetes. Individuals and families dealing with diabetes face a unique set of issues. Lifestyle changes that accompany this diagnosis can be frightening, stressful, and often seem overwhelming. This stress affects not only the individual, but the entire family. Counseling can assist families in coping with the issues encountered during the adjustment to life with diabetes. Early intervention can lessen the emotional impact of the transition into this new lifestyle. Kristi Hamilton is distinctly qualified to work with children, adolescents and families with diabetes due to her own childhood diagnosis. Adjusting to life with diabetes from childhood into adulthood gives her a unique perspective that enhances the counseling process.
